As Jesus once said (roughly), if you love only those who love you, or if you are kind to only those who are kind to you, you're not much different than anyone else. Even corrupt tax collectors do that much.
I'd say the same goes for weather. Anyone can be happy on a sunny day...but can you feel joy and God's love on a rainy one?
And the same goes for good fortune. Anyone can say "God is great" when they've won the lottery...but can you do that when you hate your job?
God is great all the time, not just on sunny days (though I prefer those). Here's hoping we can give Him glory at all times, not just the best of them.

Reminds me of a quote from the movie, Amazing Grace...
“God sometimes does His work with gentle drizzle, not storms. Drip. Drip. Drip.” –Amazing Grace
I love that. Often when I get the courage or the faith to pray a big prayer, I expect or hope for great big things to happen, for lightning bolts and change. And it just doesn’t always pan out that way. It doesn’t mean God isn’t working because He most definitely is, but just not in the way, or more rightly put the timing that I would like.
and...
Drizzle.
What a perfect word. Who really likes drizzle? Drizzle is a pain and makes us soggy. It can be tough to find joy in the drizzle, but it's assuring to know that God is most definitely at work whether it be gloriously sunny or sufficiently soggy.
Shannon, you sound so Snoop Dogg with all that drizzle talk.
I finally googled Jack Handey; survey says his last name has an E.
haha. reminds me of Mike Birbiglia stand-up.
I ain't playin' scrabble with Jay-Z anytime soon. "the word is drizzah, D-R-I-Z-Z-A-H, triple word." I'm like yeah, I'm gonna challenge that one, Jay. I'm gonna consult my dictionizzah.
i love mike birbiglia. he does stuff for this american life all the time. good stuff.
